eps - giropay interoperability

eps - giropay interoperability

With the eps - giropay interoperability Austrian companies are able to develop a much bigger market in customer access in Europe.
Without technical effort Austrian merchants are now able to receive payments from customers from Germany using the already implemented eps-interface. Until now eps and giropay from Germany were payment-methods only for their national markets. Both reach out to establish online-payments in e-commerce in Europe based on the approved high security-standards of the online-bankings.

Because of that eps and giropay interlink their systems for interoperability. In the next step further online-payment-systems shall be connected too.

What does this mean for buyers:
Online-shoppers from Austria are now able to buy at German web-shops as they are used to from eps and do not need to change to a different payment-method. The crossboarder-payment does not differ in any way from the known payment-process customers are used to from eps in Austrian web-shops. So nothing changes for the customers. The eps still takes place in the secure and trusted online-banking of the bank.

What does this mean for merchants:
Austrian merchants get access to a larger amount of potential customers in Europe. Without technical effort it is now possible for merchants to reach customers from Germany by using the already implemented eps-XML-interface.

Forecast:
For other online-payment-systems to choin the interoperability between eps and giropay the interface is intentionally designed in an open way.

You will find all information regarding the technical implementation on the right side. See "eps interface".
